Office Manager/Administrative Assistant
“Administrative Alchemist” / “Office Oracle”

We’re looking for an organized individual with strong attention to detail, willing to do a little bit of this and a little bit of that, while taming chaos and striving for ever-improving efficiencies. Role
Assist leadership in preparation of federal and state grants
Manage and assist with HR tasks
Work with bookkeeper and leadership to ensure grant compliance
Occasional event planning and organizing travel logistics
Prepare shipping documents and document processes
Develop document templates as part of quality management system
Participate in quality improvement of the sales pipeline
Send invoices and track status
Organize scheduling for external meetings, using automation software
Collect product images and media suitable for social media
Periodically update website content, including web store and social media
Perform local errands
Occasional furniture assembly
Desired experience
Bachelor's Degree or similar work experiences
Ability to stay organized in a quickly changing environment
Attention to detail
Strong time management skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Previous experience working in an office environment on a multidisciplinary team
Willing to work with a bunch of engineers/scientists/nerds
Experience working with productivity software and management tools (Office, QuickBooks, Monday.com, Hubspot) and graphic design tools (Photoshop, InDesign, Gimp)
Exposure to quality management systems or ISO manufacturing environments
Previous experience in federal funding grant application processes desired, but not required
Ability to work safely with tools commonly found in a maker-space
Hours
Benefits eligible position (~32 hours per week). Flexible schedule, total weekly hours negotiable

Research Scientist - Optical, Chemistry

Role
Provide analytical chemistry research support to process improvement and new product development
Enhance methods to perform material optical characterizations
Develop experimental plans to investigate new manufacturing methodologies
Characterization of inorganic compounds and materials
Collaborate with optical design engineers
Follow and continuously improve quality management practices
Operate test equipment (Spectrometer, multimeter, photodiodes, cameras, etc.)
Potential for management track
Desired experience
3+ years experience performing optical characterization
2+ years working with in vivo models
2+ years experience with photoluminescence spectroscopy
Experience operating a laboratory environment
Demonstrated analysis of optical imaging technologies (photography, fluorescence, lifetime, etc.)
Exposure to quality management systems or ISO manufacturing environments.
Experience with photocurable materials
Ability to work safely with tools commonly found in a maker-space
MS/PhD or 3+ years industry experience

Biomedical Optics Engineer

Role
Design and prototype optical and electronic tools
Develop methods to automate data collection
Follow and continuously improve quality assurance practices
Operate test equipment (Spectrometer, multimeter, photodiodes, cameras, etc.)
Operate suite of prototyping tools (CNC, 3D printers, laser cutter, etc.)
Contribute to cross-discipline planning meetings
Potential for management track
Desired experience
2+ years experience working with optical components
2+ years 3D design/CAD experience (i.e. Fusion360, Inventor, Solidworks)
Experience designing and prototyping basic electronic projects
Exposure to optical imaging technologies (photography, fluorescence, lifetime, etc.)
Exposure to quality management systems or ISO manufacturing environments.
3D printing experience
Ability to work safely with tools commonly found in a maker-space
Knowledge of software scripting concepts or open source projects
BS in Engineering or related subject
MS/PhD or 2+ years industry experience preferred

Maker Padawan (Internship/Co-op)

Role
Contribute to design concepts for new products and tools
Assist in manufacturing of customer orders
Modify and maintain hardware and software tools for production automation
Ensure maker-style laboratory remains clean and organized
Logging system performance metrics
Contributing to marketing and branding efforts
Other random tasks that come up in a small business
Desired experience
Ability to work safely with tools commonly found in a maker-space (3D printers, laser cutters, analytical scales etc.)
Exposure to CAD tools to develop 3D designs
Experience working on a creative or technical project (i.e. Photography, 3D-printing, web design, coding, toaster repair, etc.)
Knowledge of software scripting concepts or open source projects
Working towards BS in Engineering or lab-based science preferred, alternatively 1-year technical work experience
Hours
Ideally FT, but negotiable (between 20-40hrs/week)
